If mythology is what we want to believe and history is what we should know, the two may blend or wage war with one another. "Facts" are not always reliably documented, and memories are frequently coloured by the passage of time and personal beliefs. This writer is not immune from the phenomena. The story of No. 242 Squadron is wrapped up in that of Sir Douglas Bader, himself a legend. Yet the accepted myths have been challenged.

Twenty-three members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) gathered in Québec's Laurentian Mountain region on June 22, 2017, to test their physical and mental endurance against 2,900 professional and amateur civilian triathletes during the Ironman 70.3 at Mont-Tremblant.

Colonel Hadfield was the first Canadian to walk in space. A Royal Military College graduate, an engineer, and former Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) fighter pilot, Colonel Hadfield has flown two space shuttle missions and served as Commander of the International Space Station.
