The Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) marked the recent completion of a major upgrade of all 17 CC-130J Hercules aircraft, keeping Canada's CC-130J Hercules at the forefront of airlift operations. The 17th and last upgraded Hercules was received. The modifications include significant improvements to navigation, communication, and maintenance capabilities. The Brantford Air Force Club is celebrating its 70th anniversary with a dinner on Saturday, Oct. 29.
The club started in 1946 as a way to maintain friendships and support veterans from the Royal Air Force and Royal Canadian Air Force after the Second World War. It has been located at 144 Grey St. for more than 60 years.
"Originally, it was a group of guys who wanted to stay in touch and honour the fallen," said club president Stewart Bayley. "They got together regularly at the club rooms at the armoury building until the Grey Street club building got built in the mid-1950s."

"It was something I would never dream would ever happen," said McCraw as she attended the announcement at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum. "It's such an honour."

With a big smile and a dramatic salute, Euan MacDonald climbed up the stairs into the WWII-era Lancaster bomber to fulfill a dream.
His dreamed-about flight on Hamilton's restored Avro Lancaster came recently, with money he collected through online donations.
The 11-year-old launched a GoFundMe campaign earlier this year to help him get together the $3,500 it costs to ride the Lancaster.
"It means everything to me. This is what I've worked for and so many people have helped me do," he told CBC News before boarding the bomber, one of only two still flying in the world.

In a field outside Moscow, workers armed with little more than green fabric and air compressors are creating an imposing weapon.
A sleek, slate-gray MIG-31 fighter jet suddenly appears, its muscular, stubby wings spreading to reveal their trademark red star insignia. It is a decoy, lifelike in appearance from as close as 300 yards.
This trick is another entry in Russia's repertoire of deceit and disguise, known as maskirovka, a psychological warfare doctrine that is becoming an increasingly critical element in the country's geopolitical ambitions.
