RVDA urges financial reform conferees to accept House language on dealer-assisted financing

RVDA is urging Congressional conferees to reject Senate conferee language and accept the House conferee language on dealer-assisted financing as part of the Wall Street financial reform bill currently before Congress. Contrary to some press reports, the Senate language does not completely exclude motor vehicle dealers, including RV and boat dealers, from regulation by a new Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection (CFPB). The Senate conferee language grants the CFPB explicit rulemaking authority over dealers in four major regulatory statutes and is not a true "exclusion for dealers."More

Winnebago posts 3Q net income as RV sales jump

Motorhome maker Winnebago Industries said last week it returned to profitability in its fiscal third quarter as revenue nearly tripled and it sold more motor homes. Its shares rose more than 11 percent in midday trading. Winnebago's deliveries of motor homes more than doubled in the quarter to 1,366 from 620 in the year-ago period. The company's deliveries of its bigger "Class A" motor homes rose to 690 in the quarter from 176 in prior's third quarter.More

RV season revving up in Maine

The summer of 2010 is going to be the best RV season Maine has seen in a long time, according to Richard Abare, executive director of the Maine Campground Owners Association. Abare said that many campgrounds are booking up, RV retailers are moving merchandise, and people are getting outdoors for their vacations. The overall impact of RV campers in Maine this year will exceed $775 million, Abare said.More
