Heartland RV expanding, creating hundreds of new jobs Inside Indiana Business Share     Heartland Recreational Vehicles LLC has unveiled plans to expand its operations in Elkhart, IN, creating up to 265 jobs by 2013. The RV manufacturer expects to spend more than $2.6 million to purchase and equip a 125,000 square-foot manufacturing facility. The expansion comes after Heartland announced in February it had acquired the last active towable brand trademarks from Fleetwood Enterprises Inc. More

The number of RV units shipped from national manufacturers to dealers rose by 116 percent from January 2009 to January 2010, from 7,300 units to 15,800, according to RVIA. Pontiac RV, an RVDA member in Pontiac, IL, has managed to thrive in the current recession, recently completing a major expansion. Kent Kafer, who co-owns the facility with siblings Kevin Kafer and Courtney Farrell, said that the expansion was also a means of helping the business and its employees during the economic downturn.
