SC Governor Henry McMaster Celebrates APTA's Centennial Year!
On March 29, 2021, Governor Henry McMaster signed an official proclamation celebrating the 100th Anniversary of APTA. Proclamations are usually signed for a short period of time, however the Governor's office has declared the entirety of 2021 a celebration. This proclamation recognizes and commends APTA for its dedication to improving the health of society over the past 100 years. It also recognizes APTA's members as essential partners in meeting the future health and wellness needs of our country. Happy 100 Years APTA!

Cognitive effects of aerobic exercise in Alzheimer's disease

Objective:
To examine the immediate and longitudinal effects of 6-month cycling on cognition in older adults with AD dementia.
Exercise may reduce decline in global cognition in older adults with mild-to-moderate AD dementia. Aerobic exercise did not show superior cognitive effects to stretching in our pilot trial, possibly due to the lack of power.

Let me just say it: I believe in the power of a mission to guide a practice. In my opinion, a mission defines a company’s reason to be, and it allows employees to focus on a single essence for which they stand.
The mission statement is a formal notation of this essence; however, it is in this statement that many private practice owners lose sight of the purpose of the mission itself.

Won't back down: PTs, PTAs, achieve their specialist, proficiency goals in 2020

A pandemic may have prevented an in-person event recognizing their achievements, but it didn't stop more than 3,000 PTs and PTAs from the achievement itself — earning board certification or recertification in a physical therapy specialty, or demonstrating advanced proficiency as a PTA.
