Have a great, safe holiday!
September 23 is Falls Prevention Awareness Day! This is a day sponsored by the National Council on Aging that seeks to raise awareness in how to prevent fall-related injuries in geriatric populations. You can find out more information about the event and how to prevent falls at https://www.ncoa.org/healthy-aging/falls-prevention/falls-prevention-awareness-day/.
Legislation is in the works to improve the diversity of Physical Therapy, as well as speech and occupational, practices. The combined APTA-AOTA-ASHA bill would provide $5 million for scholarships and stipends from 2020-2025 for underrepresented individuals (including racial and ethnic minorities, as well as disadvantaged backgrounds). If you have any questions about the above information, or how to get involved with federal advocacy for the physical therapy profession, please reach out to Tristan Faile (Tristan@vertexpt.com).

While it's still too early to tell if the change will significantly impact patients seen by physical therapists (PTs), APTA's advice is to keep an eye open, and be aware of the nuances of HRA payment.

“If you build it, they will come” is a memorable line from the famous 1989 movie Field of Dreams.
If only this were true for physical therapy practices. Any practice would thrive if we could simply open our doors and provide excellent care to our patients.
