Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee Chairperson: Deadline to Submit Your Name Is Dec. 31
Position Description: The Committee Chairperson(s) is (are) responsible for leading the Diversity, Equity
and Inclusion committee of APTA South Carolina. The Committee Chairperson(s) is (are) responsible for
meaningful and timely communication with the members of the Committee, in addition to, open
communication with the APTA South Carolina Board of Directors. The Committee Chairperson(s) should
be prepared to engage in meaningful conversations, community building, and an action-oriented
approach to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion within APTA South Carolina, as well as the
profession. The Committee Chairperson(s) will be responsible for recruiting committee members,
appropriately developing the committee and succession planning with the assistance of the APTA South
Carolina Board of Directors. Special Note: In the early phase of committee establishment, the
Committee Chairperson(s) will work with the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee and the APTA
South Carolina Board of Directors to develop the committee structure, objectives, goals, etc, in
alignment with the current APTA South Carolina Policies and Procedures

Association of diet with erectile dysfunction among men in the health professionals follow-up study

In this cohort study among 21,469 men in the Health Professionals Follow-up Study, higher diet quality based on adherence to either a Mediterranean or Alternative Healthy Eating Index 2010 diet, which emphasize the consumption of vegetables, fruits, nuts, legumes, and fish or other sources of long-chain (n-3) fats, as well as avoidance of red and processed meats, was found to be associated with a lower risk of developing erectile dysfunction.

COVID-19 survivor still undergoing physical therapy after 8 months

Kevin Rathel, 52, was wheeled out of Orlando Regional Medical Center in April where he had spent weeks in the hospital, fighting COVID-19 on life support.
He was the first in the region to receive convalescent plasma and credits that treatment for his survival. That was nearly eight months ago.

Win: CMS will lift several code pairing restrictions

After an on-again, off-again approach to rules affecting the billing of code pairs that represent common, appropriate physical therapy practice, the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has announced it will accept many of the pairs it had barred for use, or required to be accompanied a modifier if they were used on the same day. The changes, pressed for by APTA, are expected to reduce use of code modifiers that were creating confusion and sparking claim denials.
