Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee Chairperson: Deadline to Submit Your Name Is Dec. 31
Position Description: The Committee Chairperson(s) is (are) responsible for leading the Diversity, Equity
and Inclusion committee of APTA South Carolina. The Committee Chairperson(s) is (are) responsible for
meaningful and timely communication with the members of the Committee, in addition to, open
communication with the APTA South Carolina Board of Directors. The Committee Chairperson(s) should
be prepared to engage in meaningful conversations, community building, and an action-oriented
approach to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion within APTA South Carolina, as well as the
profession. The Committee Chairperson(s) will be responsible for recruiting committee members,
appropriately developing the committee and succession planning with the assistance of the APTA South
Carolina Board of Directors. Special Note: In the early phase of committee establishment, the
Committee Chairperson(s) will work with the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee and the APTA
South Carolina Board of Directors to develop the committee structure, objectives, goals, etc, in
alignment with the current APTA South Carolina Policies and Procedures

Bill to offset 9% cut introduced in Senate
APTA
The effort to #FightTheCut just took another step forward: On Dec. 10 a bill was introduced in the U.S. Senate to offset the looming cuts in Medicare by providing additional payment to the 37 professions on the CMS chopping block. The bill, S. 5007, is the companion to proposed legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives that takes the same approach to the problem.

Christian Figueroa was riding his bike in the dark when a quick glance over his shoulder caused him to hit the median and tumble onto the ground. He was left with a torn anterior cruciate ligament and other injuries to his left knee.
When his doctor recommended physical therapy prior to his surgery in December, he headed to the Delaware Physical Therapy Clinic, where he works on exercises twice a week to help strengthen his leg.

Physical therapy in workers comp may increase due to COVID-19

Increases in pre- and post-surgery physical therapy in workers compensation and longer therapy durations may be a trend in 2021 as a result of surgical procedures postponed due to the pandemic, according to a report released Tuesday by workers comp managed care organization MedRisk LLC.
