Cvent reveals top 100 meeting hotels in the US for 2013

Cvent announced the results of its second annual ranking of the "Top 100 Meeting Hotels in the U.S." To establish the list, Cvent evaluated several thousand properties that received business through the Cvent Supplier Network from September 2012 through August 2013. The properties were ranked based on various data points, such as major metropolitan area market share, conversion rate and the hotel's unique Cvent profile visits. More

Bipartisan budget agreement would more than double security fee for some airline flights

The fees that airline customers pay for airport security will increase significantly if Congress passes the bipartisan budget deal that was announced. Of course, in practical terms, the increase is only going to mean a few extra dollars tacked onto each roundtrip airline ticket, but the changes would add up to an extra $730 million charged to passengers every year, according to the industry group Airlines for America. With the budget drama heading into its final act in the Senate, tensions surrounding the fate of the two-year deal are dissipating, with Republicans signaling they will not block the measure. Leery of saying how they would vote before the House overwhelmingly approved the deal, Senate Republicans opened up. GOP Sens. Susan Collins of Maine and Jeff Flake and John McCain of Arizona said they would vote for cloture, and others indicated they're considering it.More

Forecast: US hotel occupancy to increase 10 percent in Q1

Despite a slow start to 2013 bookings, the hotel industry is coming to a strong finish for the year and should see improvement in 2014, according to recent analysis. In the final three months of this year, hotel occupancy rates are expected to be up by 4 percent, with revenue per available room gaining 6.5 percent, according to TravelClick. LinkedIn checked the profile summaries of 259 million members for English and other languages, based on 81 buzzwords that were compiled last year. It ranked the most commonly-used words for members in 20 countries. More
