You can control where your home's energy comes from with the flip of a switch, every day — right now.
The Zero Energy Project mission is to connect the various individuals in the building industry with information and resources to empower the process of buying, building or selling zero energy homes and buildings.
Global climate change is today's most pressing issue and most Americans favor taking meaningful action. Buildings alone are responsible for 40% of the total energy used in the United States. Zero energy homes are a cornerstone of a reduced carbon future — one that is not reliant on fossil fuels.
SIPA is now a sponsor of the Zero Energy Project site which guides owners, builders, designers on how to "get-to-zero". SIPs appear under the "Find - Zero Energy Home Products."

Single Family Homes under 3,000 sq. ft. entry in the High Performance category.
Beacon Hill is a residential single-family positive energy home in Seattle, Washington built by SIPA member TC Legend Homes (TCL) using SIP panels manufactured by SIPA member Premier Building Systems. TCL coordinated all aspects of the project from design through construction and chose the best energy-efficient envelope to fit the homeowner's budget — the SIP system.
SIP wall thickness and core material: 6" GPS Core
SIP roof thickness and core material: 10" GPS Core
HERS rating: 7
Blower door test results: 0.5 ACH50
Install time was measured in days, not weeks as with standard framing, resulting in a reduction in framing and other trade labor. The SIPs construction material costs were comparable if not less expensive overall compared to other options available for a net-zero/positive energy project. The entire project was engineered to both fit the homeowner's budget in the heart of an expensive city, and be as energy-efficient as possible.
