Think fake news is just about politics? Think again. Fake news also includes inaccurate health news and viral Facebook posts. With the introduction of the Internet, false health information, myths and urban legends were often distributed via email. Fast forward to 2016. A recent study found that 12 percent of Facebook posts about the Zika virus were misleading.

With the recently expanded scope of Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior (JNEB), we are planning a special issue devoted to nutrition education technology. Topics include but are not limited to interventions using mobile learning or web-based education, cross-sectional studies of technology use in nutrition education and behavior and novel uses of technology in the scholarship of learning. All article types normally published in JNEB will be considered. For information on manuscript preparation, visit our guide for authors. Manuscripts should be submitted through JNEB's peer-review system by Feb. 15.
Federal Register
The FDA is extending the comment period on the use of the term "healthy" in the labeling of food products to April 26 in response to requests for additional time to submit comments. The FDA also intends to hold a public meeting to facilitate further dialogue on this topic.

House Agriculture Committee Chairman K. Michael Conaway (R-TX) unveiled a new report summarizing the committee's two-year review of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Committee members heard from 60 witnesses in 16 hearings over the course of the review known as the Past, Present, and Future of SNAP.

The Dannon Institute Nutrition Leadership Institute is designed to equip outstanding nutritional scientists at an early stage of their careers with the leadership skills and broad perspective necessary to achieve their professional potential.
