The USDA discontinued SuperTracker on June 30, 2018. Begun in 2011, SuperTracker had 27 million users including registered dietitian nutritionists, students and others. Functionalities included tracking daily food and physical activity as well as analyzing recipes or menus. Why was the tool discontinued?

Abstract
Social media can be a quick, low-cost, direct way for nutrition educators to broaden the scope of their targeted programs. The authors' viewpoint is that for social media to be effective, strategies for its use should follow "best practices" guidelines. This viewpoint suggests social media best practices based on experience gained from the Food Hero social marketing campaign.

FDA has announced a public meeting on its Nutrition Innovation Strategy from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. ET on July 26. FDA has identified several areas that the NIS will focus on:
- Developing a standard icon or symbol for the claim "healthy;"
- Developing a more efficient review strategy for qualified health claims;
- Allowing for labeling statements or claims on food products that could facilitate innovation to promote healthful eating patterns;
- Developing approaches for modernizing standards of identity;
- Examining possible changes that could make ingredient information more consumer friendly; and
- Implementing the FDA's educational campaign for consumers about the updated Nutrition Facts Label.
We encourage organizations to get involved by participating in the July 26 public meeting and submitting comments by doing the following.

Washington State University Extension
The University of Guam conducted the New Tropical Island Farmer Risk Management Education Series focusing on risk management for agricultural producers, and production/business support professionals. The intended audience included resource-challenged, beginning and small farmers, and focused on those who were veterans or Chamorra Land Trust Commission lease holders or applicants. The program created a dialog between the university and potential farmers in the Veteran community. Over 40 veterans attended and will practice the skills learned.
