Texas voters approved all nine constitutional amendments on the Nov. 5 ballot. In the weeks prior to the election, TAB/HOMEPAC encouraged support for Props 4, 5 & 6 by sharing proposition information with our members and produced a useful TAB Voter Guide. Your vote made a difference! Prop 4 passed with 85 percent of the votes cast in favor!  Prop 5 passed with 63 percent of the votes!  Prop 6 passed with 74 percent of the votes! The Texas Association of Builders would like to sincerely thank our dedicated members who supported and voted for the three constitutional amendments that will, as passed, greatly benefit the residential construction and development industry.  Thank you for your vote.

Austin-Travis County Flood Relief Fund established

Areas of Austin and Travis County were devastated as the result of flooding that occurred on Oct. 31, 2013. Almost 1,400 homes were affected, 12 are uninhabitable, and 531 have been tagged as unsafe or dangerous. State Representatives Paul Workman and Eddie Rodriguez are spearheading an effort to provide assistance and information to the citizens in the affected areas. The Home Builders Association of Greater Austin, the Texas Association of Builders, and the Texas Builders Foundation are honored to support the rebuilding effort. 100 percent of your tax deductible donation to the "Austin-Travis County Flood Relief Fund" through the Texas Builders Foundation will be used to help those who were affected by the flood. Texas' housing market sees all-time highs, lows in third quarter

Between July and September 2013, 80,105 single-family homes were sold in the state of Texas, up nearly 19 percent from the same period a year ago. According to the third quarter edition of the Texas Quarterly Housing report, a publication of the Texas Association of Realtors (TAR), that number was the highest amount of quarterly home sales since TAR began issuing the report in 2009. Austin voters backed a $65 million affordable housing plan by a margin of 60-40, one year after a similar measure was soundly rejected. he time,  the grassroots organization called Keep Austin Affordable pushed to get the new, scaled-back plan passed. Homeownership in the United States remained flat last quarter, staying at its lowest level in nearly two decades and underscoring the dominant role investors have played in the housing recovery. The nation's homeownership rate was 65.1 percent on a seasonally adjusted level in the third quarter, unchanged from the second quarter, the Census Bureau reported Tuesday. North Texas city council to vote on construction of famous Texas-based store

Tolls could be coming down road for I-35

The chairman of the state's transportation commission has revived a radical idea to put some toll lanes on Interstate 35 through Austin in exchange for removing tolls from all or part of Texas 130.
