Aluminum industry continues to see sustainability gains

Energy demand and greenhouse gas emissions associated with primary aluminum production in the United States and Canada have declined significantly in recent years according to a new, peer-reviewed life-cycle assessment report released by the Aluminum Association. The study covers all life cycle impacts from aluminum production through semi-fabrication and finds major improvements, particularly in terms of more sustainable production.

Berry Plastics to spend $31 million for new infrastructure and equipment
Plastics Today
Berry Plastics says it will invest approximately $31 million for new infrastructure and equipment, and will also transfer existing equipment from other Berry Plastics facilities. The project will begin in early 2014 and will result in the addition of more than 330 production jobs, over the next two years, at the company's downtown Evansville, Evansville Regional Airport, Princeton, and Richmond facilities located within Vanderburgh, Gibson, and Wayne counties in Indiana.

Logoplaste bids to buy packaging part of La Seda

Volume growth in North American flexible packaging market

Flexible packaging will grow into a $25 billion business in North America during the next five years, according to a new forecast. The market totaled $20.7 billion in 2013, with 88 percent of those sales coming in the United States, 7 percent in Canada and 5 percent in Mexico, PCI Films Consulting of the U.K. said in a new report.

RPC buys Helioplast in Bosnia and Herzegovina
