WTO warns U.S. on anti-dumping duties on Thai plastic bags

A World Trade Organization (WTO) disputes panel has told the U.S. that it should reform its assessment of anti-dumping duties on Thai exports to America of polyethylene retail carrier bags. It concluded that the U.S. had "acted inconsistently with [the WTO's] Anti-Dumping Agreement" by rounding down valuations of Thai exports or 'zeroing.' These calculations are used to determine the extent which Thai exports of plastic bags are made at below cost price and also the damage which they cause the American manufacturing sector (by comparing respective prices). More

Lichtenstein-based food producer Ospelt has chosen the Amcor ReClose packaging for its Malbuner range of sliced meat products. Amcor says the ReClose is both convenient for the consumer and environmentally friendly. It features an APET base web, a monomaterial that can be recycled, says the firm. More
