DS Smith's St Regis Paper division has vowed to appeal a £162,100 fine handed down this week in relation to falsifying environmental data. Exeter Crown Court handed St Regis the fine on April 19 that related to the quality of effluent charged from its Higher Kings Mill into a Devon river. More

The custom molded bottles therefore needed to incorporate a hexagonal pattern, as well as providing space for improved labeling with a hand-written feel. The European Parliament made amendments to the draft Provision of Food Information to Consumer legislation. Welch Foods Inc. and Graham Packaging are building a 19,000-square-foot container-manufacturing facility at the Welch's plant, 139 Lake St. Construction began in December, and the new building is scheduled to become operational in mid-June. Welch officials said the new facility is part of the company's plan to increase efficiency by moving 8 million cases of grape products from its Lawton, Mich., facility to its North East plant. More

Resin prices prompt Sonoco to ease profit forecast

U.S. plastic packaging manufacturer Sonoco has reduced the upper end of its profit forecast for the year as higher resin prices threaten to eat into margins. Sonoco had predicted that annual profits could be as high as $2.62 a share but in its first quarter results, published on April 21, the company reduced its top end target figure to $2.60. More
