Sainsbury's is rolling out the reusable milk Jugit in all its UK stores following a successful trial and rigid packaging group RPC has redesigned the product following user feedback. RPC Containers Market Rasen created the Jugit for Dairy Crest as an innovation in milk packaging. Consumers place milk bags in the jug, which cuts down packaging by 75 percent compared with HDPE bottles. More

UK's Asda lowers carbon footprint 7 percent in two years

U.K. supermarket slashes emissions by 84,703 tons since 2007, despite opening 36 new stores. U.K. Walmart subsidiary Asda says it has taken more than 80,000 metric tons (approximately 88,000 tons) of CO2 equivalent (CO2-eq) out of its operations since 2007, despite opening 36 stores and serving an additional 2.5 million customers each week. The cut in emissions represents a 7 percent absolute reduction in CO2-eq in just two years. More

"The planned takeover would represent both continuity and also improvements for all customers," said Willi Eibner, CEO of Greiner Packaging International. Reducing its Pepperidge Farm cracker carton by three-quarters of an inch nets a 300,000-lb reduction in packaging for Campbell Soup, reveals 2010 CSR report. When it comes to the war against packaging waste, even small cuts can have large consequences, as Campbell Soup Co. has demonstrated with a new package for its Pepperidge Farm Goldfish brand. A reported three-quarter of an inch reduction in the height of the package resulted in a savings of 300,000 lb of packaging material. More

Flexible packaging major Uflex on Sunday said it will invest Rs 125 crore for setting up a new facility at Jammu, which will come on stream by April 2011, as it seeks to address increase in demand for laminates.
