Marlboro manufacturer Philip Morris International is threatening to sue the Australian government for billions of dollars over its plan to be the first country to introduce plain, brand-free packaging for cigarettes. Japanese cosmetics and personal care firm Shiseido has focused on packaging as part of its plans to reduce the carbon footprint of its products throughout their life cycle, according to media reports. The plan outlines CO2 reduction targets for the company's production sites worldwide, as well as specifying packaging initiatives that include plant-based containers for a range of products as well as bagasse paper, which is naturally derived from the fibrous matters that remains after sugarcane is produced, according to Cosmetics Design Europe.com.
