A new research study conducted by Plastic Technologies, Inc., a global company involved in polyethylene terephthalate package development, found that exposing post-consumer bottles to ultraviolet light prior to recycling has a severe impact on the physical properties and visual attributes of next-generation, recycled PET bottles.

Constantia Flexibles has developed Constantia TEOS, a new tamper-evident opening system for packages containing medical devices. Developed in collaboration with customers, the system was originally designed for syringes housing tumor necrosis factor inhibitors, also called TNF Blockers. The key feature of Constantia TEOS is a tamper-evident peelable cover foil that is functionally destroyed during initial opening. As such, the cover foil provides reliable protection against the packaging’s illegal reuse.

HERMA adhesive said to meet new EU regs

HERMA is featuring HERMAsuperPerm 63S adhesive at Labelexpo Europe 2015 in Brussels, Belgium. With the adhesive, company says even conventional labels can be used to implement tamper-evident solutions as required by the EU’s pharmaceutical directive as of 2016. Reportedly, sealing labels equipped with this adhesive cannot be removed, even from lacquered cardboard, plastics, or steel, without destruction of the label or the packaging surface.
