Bemis Co. Inc. will close several more plants as part of its facility consolidation program. Bemis said it is adding plants in four locations - in the Twin Cities region of Minnesota; LeTrait, France; Monterrey, Mexico, and Curtiba, Brazil - to its list of closures for 2012. That will bring the firm's number of closings this year to nine, according to its second-quarter earnings report. More

BPI HY pre-tax profits fall 12 percent

British Polythene Industries has reported a 12 percent fall in pre-tax profits to £13.3 million for the six months ended June 30. Pre-tax profits fell by 12 percent to £13.3 million - down from £15.1 million a year ago. Ireland's Repak reports an increase in recycling

Dublin-based Repak funded the recovery of 652,000 tonnes of used packaging in 2011 - up by 4.1 percent from 2010. Eighty nine percent of this was recycled and 11 percent was recovered.
