Kit Kat chocolate bars fitted with GPS for Nestlé competition

Nestlé has fitted its Kit Kat chocolate bars with GPS enabled devices to support its latest competition. The firm said that inside selected packs there will be a GPS enabled device. When the lucky winner pulls the tab inside the pack its delivery team will locate them within 24 hours and hand over a check for £10,000, according to Nestlé. Six winners will be selected. More

Study finds Ingeo biopolymer stable in landfills with no statistically significant quantity of methane released

A peer-reviewed article appearing in the journal of Polymer Degradation and Stability concludes that Ingeo biopolymer is essentially stable in landfills with no statistically significant quantity of methane released. This conclusion was reached after a series of tests to ASTM D5526 and D5511 standards that simulated a century's worth of landfill conditions. More

'Made in the USA' influences shoppers

Product made in the U.S. sells, say survey respondents who point to the economic, quality, and safety benefits of U.S.-made products. In the latest shopper research survey conducted by Perception Research Services Intl., results indicate that four out of five shoppers notice "Made in the U.S.A." claims on packaging - similar to 2011 levels. And 76 percent of those shoppers claim that they are more likely to purchase a product after noticing the "Made in the U.S.A" claim. More

Packaging major Pactiv Corp. plans to expand its Corsicana, Texas, plant to meet rising demand for expanded polystyrene cups. The project was announced Sept. 17 by Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who stated the Texas Enterprise Fund will invest $930,000 in the project. The expansion will create about 200 jobs in Corsicana. More

Scottish Government launches new fund for plastics recycling firms

The Scottish Government has announced that companies that can recycle plastics, including cling film and uPVC windows, are eligible for a new investment. The new £2.5 million loan fund offers direct financial support to organizations to develop plastics sorting and reprocessing facilities in Scotland.
