Consumer insights drive new packaging innovation
Flexible Packaging
Big packaging ideas are born out of three small words: A better way. When developing new solutions in the packaging world, we need to ask ourselves, "Is there a better way?" Flexible packaging has exploded in recent years, and for good reasons: Lower distribution costs, accessibility of customizable solutions and less waste. But, we’ve also seen a “sea of sameness” at retail, particularly evident in the spouted pouch category.

Upping the ante on luxury packaging
Brand Packaging
Luxury market trends reflect the concept and imagery of feel-good indulgence, but luxury itself is a state of mind: The perception of pleasure derived from the visual and physical experience of a product. To create a state of mind that’s receptive to a brand’s luxury cues, use tools that heighten sensory perceptions including packaging structure, visual cues, color associations, package size and finishes. How a consumer responds to and interprets what he or she sees about a product on first contact is all in the presentation and the context in which it's presented.

Creating emotional lightning to drive brand desire
Brand Packaging
Most great catalysts for change start with an inquisitive question. For brand marketers and retailers, the fundamental question that keeps them up at night is rooted in how some brands defy the law of commoditization, being able to charge more for their product in a competitive marketplace. The question they ask themselves is "Why do consumers desire certain brands to the point that they are willing to wait overnight in line in front of a store to be able to purchase them?"

Why country of origin needs to be considered
Packaging News
Country of origin matters to consumers. Recent research carried out by Perception Research Services found that the perceptions of a country in consumers’ eyes can have a significant influence on consumer behavior towards a product originating in that country. People are increasingly interested in the provenance of FMCG. The study found that most half of shoppers, (47 percent), say that they check the country of origin of products more than they did two years ago. This could be influenced by the current period of economic austerity, amongst other things, causing shoppers to be more discerning in their choices.
