Sustainable Packaging Usage Expected to Grow 25-30 Percent Annually

In its current Sustainable Packaging fact sheet, Industrial giant E.I. DuPont Nemours and Company estimates that growth in sustainable packaging to reach 25-30 percent per year, compared with the overall packaging industry's anticipated growth rate of 4 percent. As well, they add that 44 percent of consumers say their green buying habits remain unchanged despite the current economy, and a third of consumers say they are more likely to buy green today than previously. Bemis 3Q Declines but Flexible Packaging Strong

Graphic Packaging Lays off 30 at WV Flexible-packaging Plant

Paperboard-packaging printer and converter Graphic Packaging International cuts approximately 30 jobs at its Wellsburg, W.V.,flexible-packaging plant, according to a story in regional newspaper The State Journal. The plant employed roughly 150 before the cuts. "It's in response to reduced consumer demand as a result of the economic environment," Cindy Baerman, senior vp-human resources told The State Journal."...Consumer demand for products at that facility is significantly down."
