Gerber has introduced a contender in the reusable diaper market. It’s All-in-One Reusable Cloth Diaper is said to feature easy-on/easy-off design to provide a secure fit and prevent prevent leaks. Interior moisture is controlled by a cotton lining that features TransDRY moisture-wicking technology. Other features of the reusable diaper include hook-and-loop closures that combine the ease of soft fasteners with the security of snaps, soft, patent-pending elasticized inner waist and leg openings and gussets on the leg openings to provide additional leakage protection.

The Saudi Arabian airline Flynas has added Virus Guard disinfectant wet wipes and sprays to its in-flight hygiene to protect passengers from viruses such as MERS and bird flu. When used, the Virus Guard wipes leave a microscopic layer on surfaces that actively protects against a wide range of viruses and kills both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, as well as vegetative cells and fungus.

Lir Scientific, maker of a new wearable device called Brightly, aims to turn the $17 billion adult diaper industry on its head. The belt-like device carries biosensors that non-invasively “see” the bladder expanding. Using Bluetooth, it can then send a discreet alert to a person’s smartphone to preemptively let them know it’s time for them to take care of their business.

The Hohenstein Institute has developed a model specifically for predicting the lifespan and period of use for cotton textiles, so that uniform providers can work out their costs for replacing worn out materials. “The weakness of the euro that has been continuing for several months now, is making raw materials which are imported into the EU and priced in dollars more expensive,” a Hohenstein Institute press release said.
