White House Releases Infrastructure Proposal: The American Jobs Plan
President Biden released the first phase of his "Build Back Better" proposal, the "American Jobs Plan," focusing on the infrastructure components of the White House's recovery efforts as well as addressing climate change, environmental justice and job creation.
The package includes $2.3 trillion in spending over eight years with a $621 billion investment in transportation and the resiliency of our infrastructure. Specifically, the proposal provides $115 billion for bridge, highway, and road investments. This is intended to be in addition to a surface transportation bill. Currently there have been no details provided on the federal share of project costs.

Gallup: Fears of contracting COVID-19 at lowest point in past year

The Gallup poll published found 35 percent of U.S. adults say they are very or somewhat worried about contracting COVID-19. That percentage represents the lowest level of concern since April of 2020.
At the same time, 22 percent now say they are very or moderately worried about access to hospital services and or treatment for the virus, and another 14 percent are just as worried about access to a COVID-19 test should they need one.

Hankook to increase commercial truck tire prices

Hankook Tire has announced a price increase of up to 5% for dealers on commercial truck tire products sold in the U.S. Additionally, the company says a price increase will occur on all aftermarket fleet programs.
This will be effective on shipments on or after May 1. This increase is based on increasing logistics, raw material cost and other market factors that have affected internal costs, Hankook says.

Yokohama will open Dallas-area distribution center

Yokohama Tire Corp. will open a new, 430,000-square-foot distribution center in the Dallas suburb of Wilmer, Texas, this summer. The addition will give Yokohama four distribution centers in the United States.
The company's other distribution centers are located in Chino, Calif.; Groveport, Ohio; and Auburn, Ga.
The new facility will distribute Yokohama original equipment tires, followed by passenger and light truck replacement tires and commercial truck replacement tires next year.
