  • Is your supply chain glass half full?
    The 21st Century Supply Chain
Bill DuBois writes, "The staff at Kinaxis is just back from another successful annual user conference, Kinexions. There were plenty of great presentations and breakout sessions. Of course, as with any Kinaxis event, there was also a bit of fun to be had with many supply chain jokes being tossed around. A colleague of mine, Mike McGuire and I had a 'glass half full' conversation and it didn't take long to come up with a list of supply chain, 'is the glass half full' one-liners."

Lift truck technology: How to listen to a lift truck
    Modern Materials Handling
Few fleet managers will be surprised to learn that a modern lift truck can collect data about every facet of its operation, well beyond the simple hour meter. Many are familiar with the concept that microprocessors onboard even the most standard lift trucks are ready to interface with computers, tablets, voice systems or a warehouse management system. What some may not realize is that this capability is not reserved solely for massive fleets with deep pockets.

    How sustainability leadership drives innovation
The business case for sustainability is a well-worn litany of benefits, both tangible and intangible: cutting costs, improving quality, attracting and retaining talent and enhancing reputation, among others. Somewhere on that list is innovation — sustainability's potential to create opportunities for companies to tweak or radically improve their products and services in a way that reduces their environmental impacts, often while delivering new features and benefits.

Employee wellness programs boost employee satisfaction and productivity
    By Joy Burgess
Many companies have been turning to employee wellness programs to help reduce employee healthcare costs. In fact, statistics from the American Institute for Preventive Medicine show that 91 percent of organizations now offer some type of wellness program, a percentage that has risen substantially in the last decade. Corporate wellness programs have soared in popularity due to their ability to fight high insurance premiums and skyrocketing medical costs, but statistics also show that these programs go beyond healthcare savings.

How to build more personal power
    MIT Sloan Management Review
It's a classic career management challenge: dealing with those times when the power we need is not the power we have. Jean-Louis Barsoux and Cyril Bouquet, a senior research fellow and a professor of strategy respectively at IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland, call this the moment when we are a "power-deficient executive," or PDE. They say that it's a common ailment and a role that most executives will experience at some point in their careers. Reasons range from the demographic group an executive is in to the level of his or her experience to personality quirks.
